I think we can choose rounding settings for some fields, how about for estimate totals? (Gross, or just Net is fine) Maybe there's a way to do that I can't find. Thanks, Jim

There isn't a way to round the estimate total, and I think adding that feature would cause more problems than it solves. For example, progress billing is based on the line items in the estimate, and they wouldn't match with the total amount any more. Also, if you did a category breakdown printed form, it would show category totals that wouldn't add up to the rounded grand total.

One option would be to round the project price for each Cost Item and Assembly to even dollars or whatever-- you do that in the Markup System. Then the line items will be rounded, and all your totals will match up.

You could also add a line item and type in the right amount to get the total rounded however you want. That way billing and job costing would also match up with the totals.

KC, that makes sense about the job costing. I only use the estimating module and hadn't thought of the interference. I'll leave things as they are, or monkey with my profit line fractions to come to a rounded total.
Thanks, Jim

What do other users think about this?

Programming-wise, it would not be that hard to add a Rounding Method field to Estimates and Sales, similar to what's in Markup Systems and other places. I don't think we'd include it in stock layouts, because of the "gotchas" involved in its use, but we could make it optional.

You probably wouldn't want to use it for progress payment jobs, but for a draw schedule job it wouldn't conflict with anything major.
