I purchased the software last year to give me a estimating program I could use on my laptop. To make it work with our pricing components I think I need to populate blank data bases rather than using the existing ones. My brian is having a hard time understanding the multi tiered system to figure out what is the corrt database to work with. I am wondering what resorces are available to get me on the right track or what cost I would incur to have someone work this out.
Thanks
Roger

Roger-
Have you taken the time to work your way through all of the lesson in both manuals?
By doing so I think you will find your answear. Going through the lessons is alot of work, but it is the only way to really understand the software. To get GS to work for YOU the way YOU WORK takes alot of learning, once that is done you can customize to how you want it to work. Believe me it is worth the effort and will help you grow your business-Jud

Thanks for the responce. I appreciate the dope slap because it really is the right answer. The lessons are hard and the temptation is to do things that demand my attention in the short term to make money and not to invest the effort for the long term. I'll give it another go.

Roger-
It is tough to get through the lessons, but worth it. When I was doing the lessons I closed the office doors, turned off the phones and did not get up until I completed at a min. of 5 lessons per sitting. Even after you do all of that it will take you several months of constant use and feed back from you job costs to get the benifits of GS

Creating Assemblies from scratch does take a while to master.
Another suggestion would be to duplicate an existing Assembly that is similar, and then change it.
We just added a writeup for that at this link (http://www.turtlesoft.com/Business-Software-Topics/Estimating-Topics/Creating-New-Assemblies.htm).

Thanks for the tip. I'll work on it and I am sure I will have to post future pleas for guidance.
